Service Description
24/7 HELPLINE: 306-525-2141. Ask for a shelter worker.
Provides emergency housing for women, with or without children, who have experienced domestic violence. Offers private bedrooms, shared kitchen and living rooms, 24-hour support staff and optional group support activities.
Up to 10 spaces are available for women and their children to stay in a safe, supportive housing environment for four to six weeks where they receive counselling, advocacy, assistance with housing, and transportation while determining their options for the future. If the Isabel Johnson Shelter is full they will suggest other options.
Eligibility
Women (anyone who identifies as a woman, gender queer or non-binary) with or without children in need of a safe supportive shelter environment due to interpersonal violence, including the following situations: - Women who are experiencing violence from a partner - Women who are experiencing violence from a family member - Women who have left a violent home for temporary accommodations, which are no longer working out, and the effects of the violence are still preventing them from finding a safe housing option. - Children must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian. Male children must be age 17 years and under. - Trans friendly - Single individuals must be age 18 years and up - Residents must be in control of their faculties - Pets not welcome - Space for storage not available
Application Process
Call and ask to speak to a shelter worker. Staff members will ask some questions about your current situation and advise if any space is available. If the shelter is full, other options will be suggested.
Fees
No charge for women, with or without children, fleeing a violent or abusive situation.
